MullenLowe has appointed managing director Claire Hollands as its new chief executive as Jeremy Hine steps down.

Hine departs after five years in the role and will remain within IPG in a role “supporting the wider network”, while Hollands will take over as chief executive in July.

During his time at the business, Hine oversaw the transformation of the group into the single brand MullenLowe UK.

MullenLowe has won clients including Bayer, Co-op, Ferrero and Bupa under Hine’s leadership.

MullenLowe also won workforce solutions company Manpower earlier this year and is due to announce two further wins later this month.

Prior to joining Lowe Worldwide in 2006, Hine was business director at J Walter Thompson Worldwide.

“It has been an amazing journey and I am incredibly proud of what the whole team has achieved,” Hine said. “The work is better, we’ve smashed new business, integrated our offering and built on our capabilities.”

He added: “Our culture is strong and our community more diverse, connected and collaborative. Claire is a brilliant professional and wonderful person who I know will continue to take the company from strength to strength.”

Hollands joined MullenLowe in November 2021 from Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, where she spent 13 years, most recently as chief client officer.

In her role as chief executive, she will report to Kristen Cavallo, chief executive of MullenLowe Global, and chief executive of The Martin Agency.

Hollands said: “MullenLowe has been on an incredible journey over the last few years. We come from a position of strength, and I am extremely proud to take on the next chapter.”

Prior to Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO, Hollands spent time at Leo Burnett and M&C Saatchi London.

Hollands has been involved with work including the anti-knife crime campaign “Choose a different ending” and most recently the Bombay Sapphire “Creativity is essential” campaign.

She added: “I believe we are a people business, so our culture and talent will ultimately be our differentiator.

“Setting an agenda on how we attract and retain the next generation of more diverse talent and support working parents – a topic close to my heart – will be a key part of our success moving forwards.”
