MullenLowe hires Maxene Edghill as director of operations

As reported in Campaign UK

MullenLowe has hired Maxene Edghill as director of operations, a newly created role that will see her bridging its strategy, creative, design, CX and production departments.

Edghill joins from VML, formerly Wunderman Thompson, where she has been creative services director since 2019. In her new role she will report to MullenLowe’s chief executive, Claire Hollands.

The role had been created specifically with Edghill in mind, the agency said. It spans the entire agency and her remit is to devise new operational ways of working and building its in-house creative and production capabilities.

Edghill will also lead its operational steering committee.

At Wunderman Thompson, Edghill was instrumental in helping merge Wunderman’s and J Walter Thompson’s 100-strong creative departments, connecting creative across production, art and design, creative tech and experiential disciplines for an integrated offering.

Before joining Wunderman Thompson, she worked at marketing services agency Hangar Seven, first as client partner followed by operations director between 2016 and 2019.

Her appointment follows MullenLowe bringing together its inter agency brands last year, and is the latest in a series of appointments made by Hollands since she took the helm in May.

These included the promotion of Katie McCambley, previously head of client services, as managing director, and the recruitment of Ben Shaw as chief strategy officer.

Edghill said: “I’m inspired by the vision that Claire, Nicky and Ben have for MullenLowe. I’m excited to join the team and be able to play a part in growing the agency and putting in systems and processes to further enhance its creative reputation and deliver award-winning work.”

Edghill also worked as head of operations at Red Brick Road in 2016.

Hollands said: “From the moment I met Max, I just knew we had to get her into MullenLowe. The combination of operational and commercial excellence in someone who is driven by our creative work and the teams that sit behind that is a special combo. We can’t wait for Max to get started.”
